Primacy research does not directly establish sales or negotiation outcomes
Primacy describes earlier information influencing later impressions or interpretations. Personality-impression experiments measure something different from sales or negotiations.
Introduce the work accurately and support it with examples and prices. Test understanding rather than promising impression manipulation.
Asch’s 1946 research compared impressions after the same personality traits were presented in reversed order. (Asch — Forming impressions of personality (1946)) It did not measure website purchases or enquiries.
Avoid turning it into a sales deadline. Define the outcome separately for your context.
Align the opening statement with later evidence
Introduce actual work and experience, then support it with contributions and pricing scope.
Review whether the initial claim matches the details, avoiding inflated titles or planned functions presented as achievements.
Review impression, understanding, and action separately
Separate appearance feedback from describing the offered work, and test finding prices and enquiring independently.
Log changes and correct misunderstandings. A favourable impression does not establish delivery or response quality.
