Start website maintenance with an end-to-end enquiry test
Website maintenance includes checking whether an enquiry reaches the person responsible for replying. A working submit button alone does not prove that the full process works.
Connect reviews with changes to prices, staff, and services. Test the journey from reading the page through submitting an enquiry and receiving a response.
Send a test enquiry and follow its delivery
Read both the missing-field message and the successful submission message. Forms should explain the result and how to correct errors. (W3C form notifications)
Check the message and reply address in the recipient’s inbox. If you use an automatic reply, review it too. Mark the submission as a test and exclude it from enquiry reporting.
Follow links to prices, telephone numbers, and external booking pages. Correct outdated destinations and remove discontinued services. Enlarge the text and look for overlaps that hide a price or action.
When changing staff details or opening hours, update FAQs, information embedded in images, and automatic replies as well as the main text.
Record fixes and assign the next check
Keep a log with the URL, observed problem, person making the fix, date, and retest result. Recheck affected steps after price changes, staff changes, or form updates. Set routine intervals according to how often information changes and how critical enquiries are.
Review submissions and replies alongside traffic. The published information should match the actual service people receive.
